Why Firsty and TextNow Are the Best Free Mobile Services to Have in 2026

Firsty App and TextNow Free Flex Plans 2026

If you're looking to save money on your phone bill without giving up connectivity, Firsty and TextNow Free Flex Plan are two of the best free mobile services available in the United States. Instead of choosing one over the other, I recommend using both because they complement each other in ways that can keep you connected almost anywhere.

Firsty gives you free mobile data through its app, making it possible to access the internet, use navigation, check email, request rides, and stay connected even when you don't have a traditional wireless plan. Since it can connect through multiple major U.S. carrier networks depending on availability, it's an excellent backup for travelers, gig workers, students, and anyone trying to cut monthly expenses.

TextNow's Free Flex Plan focuses on something equally important: reliable free calling and texting while also providing access to a growing list of zero-rated apps that don't count against your available data. That means you can continue using essential services even when you don't have a paid data plan. For many users, this includes staying in touch with family, listening to music through iHeartRadio, requesting rides with Uber, and accessing other supported apps without worrying about running out of data.

When these two services are combined, they create one of the best free mobile setups available. Firsty provides internet connectivity when you need data, while TextNow keeps your phone number active with free calling and texting and offers access to supported zero-rated apps. Together, they help reduce or even eliminate monthly cellphone costs while keeping you connected throughout the day.

Whether you're a gig worker driving for Uber, a student on a budget, someone preparing for emergencies, or simply looking to save money, having both Firsty and TextNow installed on your phone gives you flexibility that most free services can't match. One app helps deliver internet access, while the other helps you stay reachable through calls, texts, and supported data-free applications. That's why, in my experience, they're not competitors—they're the perfect combination for anyone who wants dependable free mobile service.

Using Firsty Free Data App One Week Later: My Honest Experience

Using Firsty Free Data App One Week Later: Uber Still Works for Free Without Mobile Data on My TCL K32 5G

Firsty and Uber app On TCL K32 5G

Finding reliable free mobile data is becoming more important every year. Whether you're trying to save money or simply need a backup connection, apps like Firsty are becoming popular for people who don't want to pay for traditional wireless service every month.

After using the Firsty Free Data app for an entire week on my TCL K32 5G, I wanted to share my real-world experience and answer one of the biggest questions people have:

Can you actually use Uber without paying for a data plan?

For me, the answer was yes.

My Test Setup

For this test I used:

Rather than relying on speed tests, I focused on something more important—whether the apps I actually use every day continued to work.

Uber Continued Working

One of the biggest surprises was that Uber continued working throughout my testing.

I was able to:

  • Open the Uber app

  • View available rides

  • Check pricing

  • Request rides

  • Use the service without purchasing a traditional mobile data plan

For anyone who depends on Uber for transportation, this could be a useful backup option when you don't have regular mobile data available.

Firsty Isn't Designed for High-Speed Streaming

It's important to understand what Firsty is.

The free plan isn't meant to replace an unlimited premium cellular plan.

Instead, it's designed to keep you connected for essential services and supported apps.

For many people, that's exactly what's needed.

One Week Later: My Overall Experience

After using Firsty for seven days, I found that the service remained consistent for my everyday needs.

Some of the things I liked included:

  • Easy setup

  • No monthly cellular bill required

  • Helpful as a backup connection

  • Great for essential apps

  • Uber continued working during my testing

That makes Firsty a valuable option for anyone wanting an emergency or secondary data connection.

My TCL K32 5G Experience

The TCL K32 5G handled the service well during my testing.

Apps opened normally, switching between Wi-Fi and Firsty was simple, and the phone remained reliable throughout the week.

For an affordable Android smartphone, it paired nicely with Firsty.

Firsty vs. TextNow Free Flex

After testing both services, I don't think there's a single winner.

Each one offers different advantages.

Firsty

  • Uses multiple network partners depending on availability

  • Useful for essential mobile data

  • Uber worked during my testing

  • Good backup internet connection

TextNow Free Flex

  • Free unlimited calling and texting through the TextNow app

  • Includes access to select supported apps without using your own data

  • Great option for people who primarily need communication

Instead of choosing one over the other, I actually recommend keeping both installed.

They complement each other well and provide different benefits depending on what you're trying to do.

Final Thoughts

After one full week of testing, Firsty impressed me more than I expected.

The biggest highlight was being able to continue using Uber without paying for a traditional mobile data plan.

While it won't replace a premium unlimited cellular plan for everyone, it's an excellent backup solution for essential connectivity.

If you're looking for ways to lower your monthly phone expenses while staying connected, Firsty is definitely worth trying.

I'll continue testing more apps over the coming weeks and will post additional updates as I learn more.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Uber work on Firsty Free Data?

Based on my one-week test, yes. I was able to use Uber without purchasing a traditional mobile data plan.

What phone did you use?

I completed my testing on a TCL K32 5G smartphone.

Can Firsty replace my regular phone plan?

It depends on your needs. If you rely on high-speed streaming or heavy data usage, you'll probably still want a traditional data plan. However, Firsty can be an excellent backup option for essential connectivity.

Will I continue testing Firsty?

Absolutely. I'll keep testing additional apps and sharing my results in future videos and blog posts.

TextNow 1-Week Unlimited Data Trial: Is It Worth Trying?

TextNow 1 Week Unlimited Data Plan On Us Trial Generated by ChatGPT

If you're looking for a way to save money on your phone bill or need temporary mobile data without a long-term commitment, TextNow's weekly unlimited data option may be worth checking out. TextNow has become popular for offering free calling and texting, along with flexible data options for users who want more internet access without traditional carrier contracts. (TextNow Support)

One of the biggest advantages is flexibility. Instead of paying for a full monthly plan, users can test out unlimited data for a shorter period and see whether it fits their daily usage. This can be useful for people traveling, testing a backup phone, using a secondary device, or trying to reduce mobile expenses.

TextNow also allows users to get a free phone number and use calling and texting through Wi-Fi or its wireless service options. Paid data upgrades unlock broader app access and additional features. (TextNow Support)

Before jumping in, users should remember that performance can vary depending on network coverage, device compatibility, and location. Community discussions also show that experiences can differ between devices and use cases. (Reddit)

For anyone trying to cut costs or experiment with an alternative mobile setup, a one-week unlimited data option can be a low-risk way to test the service before committing to anything larger.

Final thoughts: Sometimes a week is enough time to figure out whether a service belongs on your main phone or just in your backup toolkit. (forbes.com)

TextNow Free Flex Plan vs Kite Mobile Free Data

Image made by ChatGPT of TextNow vs Kite Mobile

Which Free Phone Service Is ACTUALLY Better in 2026?

Free phone service sounds like a scam… until you actually use it.

I’ve been testing free mobile services for years on my channel TuPhonez4Free, and two names keep popping up lately: TextNow’s Free Flex Plan and the Kite Mobile Free Data App.

Both claim “free,” but they go about it in very different ways. One focuses on talk and text, the other focuses on data. After real-world testing, here’s the no-nonsense breakdown so you can decide which one fits your life — or why using both together might be the smartest move.

📱 TextNow Free Flex Plan (The OG Free Phone Service)

TextNow has been around over a decade, and that matters. It’s stable, widely supported, and works on Android, iPhone, and tablets.

What TextNow Does Best

  • Unlimited talk and text through the TextNow app

  • Works on Wi-Fi or cellular

  • Can function as a real phone number

  • Runs on AT&T’s network with a SIM card

If your priority is calling and texting, TextNow still wins that category.

The SIM Card Catch

To use TextNow away from Wi-Fi, you’ll need to buy a physical SIM card (usually between $0.99 and $4.99).
Pro tip: I’ve covered multiple ways to earn that cost using survey and reward apps — no out-of-pocket money required.

About That “Free Data”

TextNow advertises free data, but let’s be clear:

  • It’s only for select zero-rated apps

  • Data usage may show on your phone, but you’re not charged for supported apps

  • Social media apps like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat do NOT work freely on the base plan

Free Messaging Apps That DO Work

If you want full social media access, you’ll need to buy a data pass.

Important Warning

I strongly do not recommend porting your main number into TextNow. I’ve had issues in the past, and recovering numbers can be messy. Use it as a secondary or dedicated free line instead.

🌐 Kite Mobile Free Data App (The New Kid With a Big Advantage)

Kite Mobile launched in December 2025, and it flips the free phone idea completely.

Instead of talk and text first, Kite is all about free data.

What Makes Kite Mobile Different

  • Unlimited free web-based data

  • No physical SIM required

  • Uses eSIM technology

  • No in-app purchases

  • No subscriptions

  • Advertiser-supported

You install the app, activate the eSIM, and you’re online.

What You Can Actually Do With Kite Mobile

Through Kite Mobile’s built-in browser, you can use:

This is real usable data, not just a few whitelisted apps.

Limitations to Know

  • Some states (like California) according to one reader and viewer of mines stated may have download restrictions

  • Carrier-locked phones may still need Wi-Fi to activate and the kite mobile esim bypasses through

  • No traditional calling or texting unless it’s web-based

Still, for a free data connection, this is one of the most impressive options I’ve tested.

⚖️ TextNow vs Kite Mobile: Quick Comparison

TextNow Free Flex

  • Best for: Calling and texting

  • Requires: Physical SIM

  • Data: Very limited, app-specific (Google Maps, Email, Banking, rideshare, music streaming via iHeart Radio app)

  • Ideal as: A free phone number

Kite Mobile

  • Best for: Browsing and messaging online (Facebook, Instagram, Uber, Google Maps)

  • Requires: eSIM

  • Data: Broad web access (some Lite apps can work).

  • Ideal as: A free data connection

🧠 My Real Recommendation (This Is the Cheat Code)

Don’t pick one.

Use both.

  • Use TextNow for unlimited calls and texts and the free flex data for the listed apps.

  • Use Kite Mobile for free data and web access for your facebook, instagram, and tiktoks

  • Together, they create a nearly complete free phone setup

This is where eSIM technology is changing the game, and we’re only at the beginning.

If you’re serious about saving money and still staying connected, this combo is hard to beat.
